HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION IN RELATION TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
This privacy notice tells you what to expect when Westmorland and Furness Council collects personal information in relation to your use of Council’s Economic Development services.
PURPOSE OF PROCESSING AND LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
The personal data we hold about you relating to the provision Westmorland and Furness Council Economic Development is being processed in order to:
• deliver services and support to you
• manage those services we provide to you
• train and manage the employment of our workers who deliver those services
• help investigate any worries or complaints you have about your services
• keep track of spending on services
• check the quality of services
• to help with research and planning of new services
WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH
We collect information about you to process your service request. If you agree, we also use it to email you about other products and services we think may be of interest to you. We will not share your information for marketing purposes with anyone outside of Westmorland and Furness Council. You can remove consent for us to use the information. If we have consent to use your personal information, you have the right to remove it at any time. If you want to remove your consent, please contact and tell us which service you’re using so we can deal with your request.
Those that we share your information with are:
• Other Council Services; and
• Bodies working to prevent fraud and supporting national fraud initiatives.
RETENTION PERIOD OR CRITERIA USED TO DETERMINE THE RETENTION PERIOD
We will retain your personal information in accordance with the retention periods contained in the Council’s Records Retention Schedule and Record of Processing Activity (RoPA).
THE SOURCES THE PERSONAL DATA ORIGINATES FROM AND WHETHER IT CAME FROM PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE SOURCES
Personal information originates mainly from the customer. We will only collect and use personal information if we need it to deliver a service or meet a legal requirement.
If the purpose for which the data is being used does not require personal information we will not ask for any personal details. If we are re-using data we already hold, for research for example, then we will not include personal details unless you have given your consent.
We don’t sell your personal information to anyone else. We take the security of your personal data seriously and ensure it is protected against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage.
WHETHER THE PROVISION OF PERSONAL DATA IS PART OF A STATUTORY OR CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENT OR OBLIGATION AND POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF FAILING TO PROVIDE THE PERSONAL DATA
We have a statutory duty to provide these services to you and you are therefore expressly consenting to our use and disclosure of your personal information in the manner described in this privacy notice therefore the consequences of you failing to provide your personal information is that we can no longer comply with our statutory duty.
THE EXISTENCE OF AUTOMATED DECISION MAKING, INCLUDING PROFILING AND INFORMATION ABOUT HOW DECISIONS ARE MADE, THE SIGNIFICANCE AND THE CONSEQUENCES
Where this occurs we ensure through monitoring against Council’s policies and procedures that the correct decision and outcome is verified.
