The Procurement Team at South Lakeland District Council endeavour to work closely with current and prospective suppliers. We strive to make business opportunities accessible by advertising on the North West e-tendering portal, The Chest. All suppliers interested in doing business with the Council are encouraged to register on the Chest and also onto our Supplier Database to be kept informed of any upcoming opportunities.
Business Rates are collected by South Lakeland District Council and returned to the Government to pay for local services. The Business Rate team can provide infomation on rateable value, rate relief for small businessess and other queries.
Food & Safety Group (Environmental Health)
Food and Safety Group are responsible for ensuring safe and hygienic production, storage, distribution and sale of food and drink. Staff in the Environmental Health Service are always willing to provide advice and information to operators of food and drink businesses.
This team are also responsible for Health & Safety in offices, shops, hotels, guest houses, catering services, care homes, warehouses.
South Lakeland District Council's Licensing Department is the enforcing authority for hackney carriage vehicles and drivers and private hire vehicles and drivers. Licensing also deals with amusements with prizes, permits for street collections, house-to-house collections, small lotteries, skin piercing activities, animal welfare licensing, zoos and pet shops.
